I’ve been a voracious reader since my mother instilled within me her own love of reading at an early age. Together we’d escape into worlds otherwise unknown to us through the pages of books.
A new love implanted itself in my life when I saw Mary Martin onstage in PETER PAN. Struck with a fever from which I never recovered, I submerged myself in drama through high school and college, but, somehow Broadway never found my phone number. I’m certain I left a message where to reach me.
One night, I went on a blind date with a handsome Englishman and within a short time, marriage derailed my further education. With an Associates degree firmly grasped in hand, I left college and embarked on my Mrs. degree.
Fast forward a few years, and a move to upstate New York expanded my horizons. Knowing no one and bored, I decided to get a job. I became Legislative Affairs Director (a fancy name for a lobbyist) for Christian Coalition of New York and began writing and publishing position papers for distribution in the state House and Senate. I lobbied in New York State and in Washington D.C. At the same time, I began to receive invitations for TV appearances and speaking at women's conferences.
In 1995, we returned to Atlanta. Still fully involved in theatre, I took that passion into the church, serving as the drama director for 11 years. I wrote my first script in 1999 and to date, I’ve published more than four dozen scripts and numerous articles on various aspects of Christian drama.
In June of 2002, I quit my job as a business manager and with my husband’s encouragement, turned my hand to novel writing. To date, I’ve completed five novels, and I’m working on a new series.
I’m an editor with the popular literary blog, Novel Journey, and a a humor columnist for ACFW’s e-zine, Afictionado. I currently serve on the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) Operating Board. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter and Shoutlife.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, I now live in Atlanta, Georgia with my husband and one very large dog, who we originally thought was a purebred Mastiff. We have since discovered he’s half Marshmallow.
